DxO ViewPoint exists in two versions:
As a standalone application, DxO ViewPoint is autonomous. It accepts only JPEG or TIFF-format files (see the complete list of supported file formats in a separate FAQ entry below). It cannot process RAW-format images unless they have been previously converted to a supported format. DxO ViewPoint applies its corrections to your images, which you can then integrate into a host application for further processing.
As an external editor, the plugin version of DxO ViewPoint can be used with two host applications:
- Adobe® Photoshop® Lightroom® 3, 4 or 5
- Adobe® Photoshop® CS3, CS4, CS5, or CS6
Once an image has been previously opened in one of these applications, you can transfer it temporarily into DxO ViewPoint. You then can process the image in the DxO ViewPoint workspace, then transfer the image back into the original application.
DxO ViewPoint can be installed simulataneously both as a standalone application and as a plugin on your computer, allowing you to choose between one or the other at any time.
