Can the non-destructive workflow be used in Adobe Photoshop or other third-party host software?

This information applies to versions 3 and newer

The non-destructive workflow option of Nik Collection, which was added with the release of Nik Collection 3, is not required when using Adobe Photoshop. This is because a non-destructive workflow is already available in this host application by using Photoshop's Smart Object approach, where a regular layer can be converted to a smart object when saving changes from Nik Collection to Photoshop (available in Nik Viveza, Nik Color Efex, Nik Analog Efex, Nik Silver Efex, Nik HDR Efex, Nik Dfine).

The non-destructive workflow is officially supported by DxO when using Nik filters as standalone applications or in conjunction with Adobe Lightroom Classic CC or DxO PhotoLab. It may work with other third-party applications as well, but we cannot guarantee compatibility, nor can we offer support in such cases.
