After noise reduction has been applied, my images seem oversharpened and appear to contain artifacts

This information applies to the latest version

DxO PhotoLab and DxO PureRAW offer four denoising algorithms.

The two newest of these, DeepPRIME and DeepPRIME XD (DxO PureRAW 4: XD2) are based on machine learning, making them capable of extraordinary results.

In exceptional cases, and especially at very high ISO values, the algorithm’s interpretation of the data and attempts to distinguish information from noise may result in artifacts or patterns that were not visible in the original image.

These rare cases remain a challenge in our industry, even for algorithms of this type which produce otherwise peerless results. In such cases, we recommend adjusting the additional controls for DeepPRIME/XD/XD2* or using either the PRIME or High Quality algorithms to circumvent the problem instead.

*DeepPRIME XD2 is currently only available in DxO PureRAW 4.
