How can I harmonise the colour rendering of images taken by different cameras?

This information applies to all versions

When we add support for a camera we have to provide color parameters, since RAW images don’t include this information. We try approximately to mimic the standard rendering of the JPG from the camera. This can only be an approximation because the variety of different available cameras, together with the fact they adapt colors to the light and scene when shot, precludes complete accuracy. The point is that we don’t replicate all of a camera's possible rendering modes (neutral, landscape, monochrome, …).

Newly supported cameras are added to the menu [Color rendering/camera body]. They appear here in groups because their manufacturers don’t always provide new color parameters for new cameras.

When you open a RAW image in DxO PhotoLab, “Default rendering” is set in the color rendering panel. This is as if you had selected your camera in the menu [Color rendering/camera body]. The result will show the colors and contrast we calibrated, so if you had selected a specific rendering in your camera, then our RAW conversion will look different from the JPG of your camera.

The purpose of the menu is to apply the rendering of one camera to images from other cameras. For example, if you're given image files from another photographer at a wedding, you could use these options to harmonize their colors. But to do so you will need to use the profile we calibrated.
